8 week summary

Week 1: moodboard

For week 1 of her ORC, Julie presents us with her moodboard for her little girl's room which will arrive in July. Her theme: Boho Wildflower Nursery. Being a nature lover, Julie was determined to incorporate flowers and raw materials into the room. The key element of the room will be a magnificent wallpaper Décor Imprimé from Natasha Prévost's collection. A pretty floral pattern on a sage green background.

Week 2: The to do list

Once the moodboard is done, it is now time to compose a list of everything that needs to get done. It is not a short list and includes painting all the walls, installing a custom closet, choosing lighting and window coverings, installing the wallpaper and then some...

Week 3: transforming a piece of furniture into a changing table

Julie loves recycling furniture. She refinished a 3 drawer dresser that she found on Marketplace and created a beautiful changing table. A coat of paint, some new handles and voila ! A brand new piece that would make Pinterest green with envy!

Week 4: Installing the mural

The self-adhesive wall mural is an important element in the nursery.  She wanted a timeless and elegant pattern that would create a WOW when visiting the room. White Flowers & Co., a textured wall mural by Natasha Prevost allows her to get exactly the effect that she wanted.

Week 5: The closet

The nursery is a small room with a small closet so Julie opted to integrate a personalised storage unit. She chose the model Aurdal from IKEA because it could be modified to fit her needs and the dimensions of the room.

Week 6: Wall decor

It is already week 6 and the wall decor needs to be installed. Julie decided to begin with a gallery wall over the rocking chair. Before installing her frame, she cuts out a pattern of each frame and places them in different arrangements on the wall before making a final decision. Once the frames are up, there are just a few shelves to install before completing the wall decor.

Week 7: The final touches

For the 7th week of the challenge, Julie presents the final touches; the carpet, the window coverings and the completed decoration. She also shares some of the difficulties she encountered. There is one week left in the One Room Challenge and she is still missing some important components to the nursery. Will the delays keep her from completing the challenge ?

Week 8: The final results

The final results are stunning ! Julie’s Boho Wildflower nursery is a success. Every element has been carefully selected to highlight the next. Everything settles into this nursery of sage green with hints of orange and pale wood like a baby in the womb.

Julie’s choice of wall mural is the clear focal point in the room. It highlights the crib in addition to creating a perception of depth to the room making it appear bigger.

The room is soothing and peaceful. It is the perfect space for a child to call their own
